This weekend I will be releasing a new edition of Ooh Yes I Woof! the adventures of a Miniature Schnauzer.
I have reviewed the first edition of Ooh Yes I Woof! with the aim to make corrections, amendments and to improve the image quality. It was a little bit strange to ‘remake’ the book which I wrote back in 2015. I always thought the end result looked great but after the release it turned out that it could do with a couple of improvements.
The reason for the review was that a library gave me some feedback after they read the book. I was advised by the library that for some children reading isn’t easy. They might have dyslexia, a learning disability, or just learn differently and they may find certain letter font sizes difficult to read. They also found that the quality of the images appeared to look a little bit dark and grey in the prints.
As the writing and editing for the new book had been completed I thought this would be the right time to review Ooh Yes I Woof! to improve the reading experience.
For the revised edition I have chosen a new letter type and I have replaced font size 12 with 14. As a result the page number increased from 100 to140 and I was able to add the title on the spine of the book.
I have also reviewed and removed all the original images from the book’s interior. I thought it would be better to start from scratch again. One Saturday morning I scanned all the original drawings and started to edit them. All of the images have been reworked and I have given each of them a fresh high contrast black and white look.
I also wanted take the opportunity to bring the lay-out in line with my new book. The soon to be released and follow up to Ooh Yes I Woof!, The Dog’s Favourite Recipe Book and culinary adventures of a Miniature Schnauzer. The identical lay-out shows the strong connections between the books.
It was fun doing it and I must say I’m pleased with the result. The new edition is now available from Amazon and many other online retailers.
The first edition with ISBN number 13-978-1507745847 will be discontinued.
