Press release: Brighton & Hove Christmas Book Fayre 2019
The Brighton & Hove Christmas Book Fayre is coming back to the Brighton Unitarian Church on Saturday 23rd November. The bi-annual event has been running since 2018 and is organised by local authors P.J. Blakey-Novis and Richard Gough-Buijs, and P.J.’s wife Leanne, a graphic designer and co-founder of Red Cape Publishing.
Come along to this exciting literary event connecting authors and readers, and celebrating books and the written word. It would be a great opportunity for everyone to discover books written by both traditionally published and independent local authors including Judith Thomson, Simon Davey, Shani Struthers, Nils Visser, Daren Callow, and Corina Edwards-Colledge, with genres covering fiction, crime, sci-fi, steampunk, supernatural, cookery, horror, historic, teen and children’s books, plus much more
The book fair has been described as a ‘feel-good’ event. Admission is free!
Horror author Lou Yardley will be attending the Brighton & Hove Book Fayre along with her sister who will be raising money for the Max the Brave Fund. This is part of the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust, which aims to help save the lives of children fighting cancer. You’ll be able to purchase notebooks, paperback protectors, and glasses cases, with the profits going to the fund. More info can be found at www.maxthebravefund.org
Red Cape Publishing will be bringing a wide selection of books, including their newly release series of anthologies – Elements of Horror. The first three books in this four-book series will be available to purchase on the day, with Book Four due for release on December 3rd.
Richard Gough-Buijs is currently working on a supernatural novel which is based on Deryk Carver, founder of Black Lion pub in Brighton, who was burned at the stake in Lewes in the sixteenth century. Four hundreds years after his death, guests staying in a holiday-let behind the pub, experience haunting encounters with spirits from the past.
